Hurricane Helene 2024
On September 26th, 2024 Hurricane Helene smacked the Florida Coast with a record breaking punch. It was the deadliest storm on record since Hurricane Katrina. The storm intensified as it hit land and caused a wake of unimaginable destruction. As far inland as The Appalachia Mountains, residents were inundated with apocalyptic walls of water up to 30 FEET high. There are some towns that have been wiped off the map forever. The death toll continues to climb and we have first hand reports of vultures circling in the skies above the debris piles along the river's path.
This is a new hard reality, that nobody in these towns could have prepared for. It's starting to sink in that this relief effort is a marathon and not a sprint. We have organized a Stress Relief Station event at Lake Lure for these volunteers and first responders who are working at ground zero in North Carolina. We chose this area to serve due to the sheer scope and size of the destruction we witnessed, (as well as a personal family connection to the areas of Marshall, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure.)
A "special thank you" to NTLB volunteer, "Elmer W." for your help once again. (NTLB originally met Elmer as a volunteer during Hurricane Harvey!) After Helene passed through, Elmer sprang into action, collected supplies, loaded his trailer, and bravely traversed the disaster scenes to deliver emergency supplies. Elmer connected the dots and reported back the actual needs of the communities who were hardest hit by Helene. During his travels through Chimney Rock and surrounding towns, Elmer heard about the great work the folks at "Ridgeline" were doing organizing supplies and distributing it to their neighbors in hard to reach areas. They have been at it for 3 weeks now and you can see by the photo below - their arms and bodies are getting pretty tired and sore!
NTLB has partnered with several organizations and providers to host on-going Stress Relief Station events at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock for these volunteers and first responders who are working at ground zero in North Carolina. Chiropractors and massage therapists from all over the state of North Carolina are coming to help take a little bit of the pain away with free- hands on healing! The next events are taking place this weekend October, 25th-27th. For more information including locations and times, please email [email protected].

Hurricane Ian Relief 2022
We are thankful to meet such wonderful and giving community members who step up after a major disaster strikes. No Town Left Behind has been actively assisting communities since 2016 when Hurricane Harvey unleashed his fury on Texas. When we received the request to help bring supplies to the outlying islands on the West Coast of Florida after Hurricane Ian, we were honored to respond.
THANK YOU to the wonderful team and community at Bahai Marina in Sarasota, The Leather Necks USA, Grunts with Halos, Laura Untch & Friends, and all of our amazing volunteers from around the USA! We couldn't bring all this LOVE without your help and support!
